SAN DIEGO — Authorities say a body believed to be that of 28-year-old man from La Jolla missing after he dove off a tour boat has been pulled from Mission Bay.

San Diego lifeguard Lt. Andy Lerum says the body was discovered shortly after 3:10 p.m. Sunday near Bahia Point about 100 yards from shore.

The man, whose name has not been released, jumped off the Bahia Belle tour boat with two companions at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

The pair reported the man missing when they couldn't find him after swimming to shore, and after a search of land and water turned up nothing, the U.S. Coast Guard, San Diego police and others began an underwater search.

The Bahia Belle is a sternwheeler cruise boat that regularly cruises through the bay.
