CAPE MAY, N.J. - Hearings into why a fishing boat sank off the New Jersey coast have opened.
Six crew members were killed March 24 when the Lady Mary went down just before dawn. Only one survived.
A Coast Guard rescue diver and other service members are scheduled to testify on the first day of the hearing. The lone survivor is expected to talk to the panel later in the week.
The hearings are designed to gather information for a report on what went wrong and how similar tragedies on the seas can be prevented.
